IF YOU ARE AN AMAZON SELLER, YOU MUST KNOW THIS! DDP AND WHY IT MATTERS.

2 September 2021

When it comes to shipping from China, as a seller based in this country, you need Deliver Duty Paid (DDP) – the Amazon FBA requirement for sellers. In general, Delivered duty paid means that a seller delivers goods when they are placed at the buyer’s disposal, cleared of import on arriving transportation vehicles, and ready to unload in named place of delivery. This way you can rest assured that if there are any issues with customs or taxes then those will be handled before items reach their destination country.

Sellers who buy in China are often at the mercy of a difficult and expensive process that can leave them with little to no control. The entire process is made up of goods manufacturers, Amazon sellers, and transportation companies.

However, most Chinese factories lack the ability for their products to be shipped from China into an American warehouse or retail store, they will need to rely on transportation services like a third-party transportation company. As a result, the DDP service for FBA transportation is provided by the transportation company rather than the supplier.

Amazon sellers are able to ship their products overseas and have them delivered right at their doorstep, all in one go. Additionally, some shipping companies will be contacting Amazon sellers from now on. Unless customs requires some documents or licenses when the goods are in customs clearance and in most cases, they’ll handle all of your delivery processes. They just need to fill out the required forms before they send anything abroad- import duties for goods being sent from a foreign country into America as well as export duties that will be due when shipping back home. Once everything is ready, Amazon can take care of it on your behalf!
